Mossa School Of Dance Policies
All students should strive to have an overall neat and professional appearance.
Females: All female dancers in all programs are required to wear their class leotard and tights provided by Mossa School of Dance. Pink ballet shoes. (Canvas only please) All shoes and tights should be clean and without holes or runs. Dancers who are invited to take pointe class are expected to have appropriate and useable shoes for class.
Males: All male dancers in all programs are required to wear their class tights and shirt provided by Mossa School of Dance. Black canvas ballet shoes. All male dancers must wear a skin toned dance belt. All shoes and tights should be clean and without holes.
Hair: Hair is to be pulled back into a neat ballet bun. "Wispies" and bangs should be pinned, or sprayed back and secured. Please no excessive scrunchies, headbands, or other hair accessories. Male dancers should have neat hair and facial hair.
Jewelry: Please, no jewelry. This includes necklaces, bracelets, rings, anklets, and dangling earrings. Small earring studs are permitted.
Warm-ups are not permitted in class unless specified otherwise.
Undergarments are not permitted underneath dance clothing.
Students who do not follow the dress code will be sent home with a violation notice. Students may be asked to leave the room until they are compliant with the dress code.
Regular class attendance is important in developing a dancer's technique. Students that miss too many technique classes may not be allowed to perform. This will be at the discretion of their choreographer and in compliance with the rules set forth at the parent meeting. Please notify us if your child will be absent prior to the start of class. Lateness is not permitted. Students that are late will not receive sufficient warm-up time, putting their bodies at risk for injuries. Also, students coming into class late are disruptive to their classmates. Any student more than 15 minutes late may be asked to sit out of class. Excused absences are as follows: severe injury or illness, wake, funeral, or mandatory school event, mandatory family obligation i.e. vacation or wedding (with at least one months notice). All other absences are unexcused. It is the student’s responsibility for catching up on anything missed in class and rehearsal.
Recordings of any kind (photographs, video recordings, tape recordings, etc.) are strictly prohibited. This includes both classes and performances. Please do not post any recordings or pictures on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Youtube, Instagram or any other social networking site, media sharing site, or blog without permission from Mossa School of Dance.
While we encourage performance as an important and excited aspect of a dancer's training, we believe it is a special privilege. Students who choose to perform in the Winter and Spring Ballets will be held to a higher standard which will be outlined in their performance contract. Dancer's must attend the auditions and Parents must attend the mandatory meetings.
Students who are invited to start pointe work are required to attend the summer intensive. Current Jr. Company and Company members are also required to attend the summer intensive. Attendance is strongly recommended and encouraged to any student who would like to participate in performance.
Parents are not permitted to watch class. This can be disruptive and distracting to the students and teachers. Please do not enter the classrooms unless you are invited by the teacher. There will be designated observation days when you may watch your child's classes. If you have a concern you would like to discuss, please set up a time to meet with Alexis outside of class hours.
In the case of mild injury or illness dancers are encouraged to continue to participate by sitting in on classes and taking notes.
Eating and gum chewing is not permitted in the classroom. Water is always permitted and encouraged.
