Founder/Owner & Artistic Director
Alexis Gaetano began studying dance at the age of two and teaching and choreographing at age 13. She has had the privilege of studying under many talented teachers in her 20 (and counting!) years of dancing and learning . She primarily received her training at The Timothy M. Draper School for Dance Education and The Amanda Rose Belmont Dance For Joy Studio, the latter where she began her teaching career and discovered her love of choreographing and directing. On her 19th birthday, "Creation", Alexis's first full length ballet, was performed. Since then, she has produced many original shows including "Diamonds," "The Tale of Three Trees," "Snow White," "The Christmas Shoes," "The Wizard of Oz," and "The Grinch," "What Cancer Cannot Do," "Twas The Night Before Christmas," and "Cinderella." At the age of 19, Alexis opened Mossa School of Dance, hoping to provide a place for young dancers to learn the beautiful art of ballet in a compassionate and inspiring environment. Growing up in the ballet world, it is her desire to impart quality training to her students as well as a true love for movement and love for the mover themselves. Never being one to follow the beaten path, Alexis believes that all dancers have something valuable to bring to the stage and would like to break the stereotypes of dance and promote a healthy sense of self-worth and the re-define the meaning of true artistry.
Alexis is heavily involved in the traveling show "The Life Ballet." She also has an extensive background in theatre and vocals. Alexis would like to thank her family and friends for their never ending support. When she is not wearing one of her many hats at Mossa, she enjoys hanging out with her puppy, Mr. Brown, running, making yummy vegan food, and participating in all things artsy and crafty!
About Mossa School Of Dance
Mossa- Gesture; Lead The Way, Motion; Move; Movement
Mossa School Of Dance, founded in August 2011 by Alexis Gaetano, is located in Rochester's culturally rich Neighborhood of The Arts. At Mossa, it is our goal to impart quality, technical ballet training to our dancers while fostering the artistic development in each individual. Students have ample performance opportunities and learn not only the importance of proper technique, but also cultivate their skills as performers and comunicators through dance.
At Mossa School of Dance, we care about the well-being of each of our dancers. Students are placed in our program at an appropriate level according to skill and experience. We believe in a positive, non-threatening, and hard-working environment. We believe dance should inspire, not tear down, a young person and should instill confidence and discipline as well as provide a life-long creative outlet.
